Important Dates

Agreement start: 1 January 2016

Agreement end: 31 December 2020

Licence dates: Subscription Licences are co-terminus with the agreement, and subsequent invoices are sent on or after 1 October.

One time licences are in perpetuity.

Commitment Period

This Agreement is of 3 years duration. Institutions may join the agreement at any time during the agreement period. If a subscription is taken they will then be committed to the end of the Agreement Period unless they have exercised the opt out clause by giving appropriate notice to Eduserv.

Eligible Institutions

Universities, colleges and other learning, educational and research bodies in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Other organisations aligned with Jisc’s charitable objectives of supporting education, research bodies and the public sector may ask to participate in the Agreement. Chest will liaise with the Supplier about any such requests.

These books are highly cited and currently recognized in prestigious indices such as: Scopus® and Web of Science™. The advanced platform offers unlimited access and full-text searching capabilities with no DRM. Users can search for titles across 11 core subject areas:

Terms and Conditions

The Chest Order, together with the Licence Terms and Conditions, and any exceptions listed below, create a legally binding contract between your institution, organisation or company and the Licensor. Therefore please read the terms and conditions carefully and only submit a Chest Order if its terms and conditions are acceptable to your institution, organisation or company and you have the authority to make the financial commitment shown.

Licence

This Site licence is subject to the terms and conditions for the Standard Chest Licence for Online Resources.

Payment Terms

Subscriptions

On receipt of a completed Order, Institutions will be invoiced for the Agreement year in which the Licence is signed.

In subsequent years, Institutions will be invoiced three months in advance of the anniversary date of the Agreement, on 1 October 2018 and 2019.

There is no pro-rata charging for Institutions which become licensed partway through a licence year.

Perpetual purchase

On receipt of a completed Order, Institutions will be invoiced for the one-time fee for the Agreement year in which the Licence is signed.

Chest is an Enterprise of Jisc. All Purchase orders must be made out to JISC, One Castlepark, Tower Hill, Bristol, BS2 0JA and Eduserv's invoices must be paid within 30 calendar days of the date of the invoice.

Alumni use is allowed under the standard licence and is included in the Fee.

What can authorised users do?

The resources can be used for Educational Purposes – defined as:

  • education
  • teaching
  • distance learning
  • private study
  • academic research
  • administration and management of the Licensee’s educational or research operations

Exclusions: [Delete or amend as appropriate]

  • See the Licence for any exclusions and restrictions
  • The resources may not be used for anything other than Educational Purposes unless the Licence Extension for Commercial Projects has been bought; this allows use for the restricted “Commercial Projects” defined – see Annex B of the Licence (Licence Extension for Commercial Projects)
  • Downloading of large amounts of material by authorised users that might be considered ‘systematic’.

Termination Clauses

Opt out rights and notice period
Sites may opt out by giving Eduserv 90 days notice (i.e. on or before the 1st October preceding the subscription year)

Post Cancellation Access Rights
For subscriptions the licensee retains the right to the subscribed content produced during their subscription period.

For perpetual purchase the licensee retains the right to the content purchased without further update.

The Fee for early termination in accordance with clause 10.4 of the Terms and Conditions for the Standard Chest Licence for Online Resources is nil.

The Fee for retention rights upon termination in accordance with clause 10.5 of the Terms and Conditions for the Standard Chest Licence for Online Resources is nil.

Personal Licences

Personal licences are not available.

Products and Pricing

Currency: All prices are in US $ and exclude VAT.

Prorating: there is no prorating as the Licensee retains perpetual access rights to all titles published during the Licence Years subscribed to.

Note: where a purchase is made in 2018, the Fee includes access to all titles including those published in 2018, but not 2019 and 2020. Where a purchase is made in 2019, the Fee includes access to all titles including those published in 2018 and 2019, but not 2020. Where a purchase is made in 2020, the Fee includes access to all titles including those published in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
