Higher Education and Research Councils in the United Kingdom, and to Universities in the Republic of Ireland.
Other organisations aligned with Jisc’s charitable objectives of supporting education, research bodies and the public sector may ask to participate in the Agreement. Chest will liaise with the Supplier about any such requests.
This is the continuation of a popular long standing agreement with Emerald for quality content in business management and other subject areas, enhanced to provide a UKRI-compliant open access route for authors.

Emerald eJournals are divided into 9 management and 4 complementary specialist subject areas. The Premier Collection consists of all 13 collections. EM120 continues for this agreement to existing subscribers only.

HE institutions can pick across the nine Management and the four Specialist Collections.
Emerald will provide UKRI-compliant green open access via Jisc Publications Router. This will be available to institutions with a repository compatible with Publications Router for articles published in journals to which the corresponding author’s affiliated institution has an active subscription at the time of submission.

The supplier confirms that throughout the term of the agreement the products will comply with the standards indicated.
The frequency of updates will vary with each journal title but all are included in the cost.
All additions (newly launched titles) will be incorporated at no additional charge to Emerald Premier and Subject Collections. All new functionality of the Emerald platform is included for all products at no additional cost.

Copying of hardcopy and electronic documentation is permitted for staff and registered students and other permitted users except Alumni. Registered users are able to make up to make up to 25 copies of the resources.
Alumni specifically:
Where additional access has been subscribed to for Alumni (who have access to subscribing library’s facilities) they may copy parts of both hardcopy and electronic for personal use only and may not distribute it without requesting permission through either Rightslink or emailing permissions@emeraldinsight.com.
The Chest Order, together with the Licence Terms and Conditions, and any exceptions listed below, create a legally binding contract between your institution, organisation or company and the Licensor. Therefore please read the terms and conditions carefully and only submit a Chest Order if its terms and conditions are acceptable to your institution, organisation or company and you have the authority to make the financial commitment shown.
This Site licence is subject to the terms and conditions for the Standard Chest Licence for Online Resources with amendments shown at the bottom of this screen.
Licensees may purchase an Educational Purposes Licence Extension (See Annex A of the Licence) or an Alumni Licence Extension (See Licence Definition 1.1(a)(iv) and Annex A).
Alumni use is only permitted if the Alumni Licence Extension is chosen.
Annual opt-opt/early termination is not permitted for Institutions in Jisc Bands 8-10 who have chosen to be "locked-in" until 31 December 2023. Other Institutions must give written notice to terminate early - see the Exceptions to the Terms and Conditions below.
On receipt of a completed Order Form Institutions will be invoiced for the Agreement year in which the Licence is signed.
In subsequent years, Institutions will be invoiced three months in advance of the anniversary date of the Agreement, on 1 October 2021 and 2022.
There is monthly pro-rata charging for institutions which become licensed partway through a licence year.
Chest is an Enterprise of Jisc. All Purchase orders must be made out to JISC, 4 Portwall Lane, Bristol, BS1 6NB
All terms contained in a PO are expressly rejected and do not form part of the Licence or vary the Licence terms in any way.
Payments are due within thirty days of invoice date; recipients of late payments are entitled to interest in accordance with UK statutory provisions.

Exclusions:
The Licensee may retain an electronic copy of the Licensed Material in its archives for reference only. Copies of parts of the Licensed Material already made and/or used by the Licensee or Authorised Users in accordance with clause 2.2 may be retained and used in accordance with the terms of this Licence Agreement – see Licence Term 10.5.
The Licensee retains the right to the material published in the year in which they subscribed. This will continue to be accessed from the Emerald platform and no access fee applies.
Licensees may opt out of the agreement annually by giving notice not later than 1st October preceding the next subscription year. i.e. 1 October 2021 for a subscription commencing 1 January 2022 or 1 October 2022 for a subscription commencing 1 January 2023. Please note, opting out is not an option for institutions in Jisc Bands 8-10.
Personal licences are not available.
6. Open Access
6.1 Throughout the Term, Authors affiliated with the Licensee may, from the date of publication, deposit the version of the article that has been accepted for publication (the Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM)) by the Licensor on the following conditions:
6.2 Authors affiliated with the Licensee may post the version of the article that was submitted to the journal (pre-print) to the above resources, at any time.
6.3 From the Router Feed Start date, the Licensor shall permit and facilitate the deposit of manuscripts by Eligible Authors that are accepted for publication in the Licensed Material in Institutional Systems and approved repositories via Jisc Router under licence terms that comply with the UKRI requirements, which are anticipated to be zero embargo, CC-BY licence.
6.4 The Licensee permits the Licensor to deliver Router Data to the Jisc Publications Router in accordance with the terms of the agreement between the Licensor and Jisc.
6.5 The Licensee acknowledges that the Licensor is not responsible for the publication choices of authors affiliated to the Licensee and the permissions granted in this License are not conditions of publication with the Licensor.
