VAT

From 1 May 2020:

  • Zero rate VAT applies to APA PsycBooks
  • Standard rate applies to Service Provision from all providers

Commitment Period

This Agreement is of 3 years duration. Institutions may join the agreement at any time during the agreement period. They will then be committed to the end of the Agreement Period unless they have taken a single year commitment AND provided appropriate cancellation notice.

Eligible Institutions

Universities, colleges and other learning, educational and research bodies in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Other organisations aligned with Jisc’s charitable objectives of supporting education, research bodies and the public sector may ask to participate in the Agreement. Chest will liaise with the Supplier about any such requests.

  • OVID - Data is loaded on to the Ovid servers according to the frequency of its supply by the APA
  • ProQuest - Data updates are performed upon receipt of metadata from APA.
    There might be up to a 1-2 day lag period from receipt of the data to when the data appears on ProQuest platform, but usually content is updated as it comes in from the provider.

Terms and Conditions

The Chest Order, together with the Licence Terms and Conditions, and any exceptions listed below, create a legally binding contract between your institution, organisation or company and the Licensor. Therefore please read the terms and conditions carefully and only submit a Chest Order if its terms and conditions are acceptable to your institution, organisation or company and you have the authority to make the financial commitment shown.

Licence type

This agreement is not based on Standard Chest Agreement terms and conditions. Please make sure you read and accept APA's licence terms.

There is one exception to these terms listed at the bottom of this page.

Payment Terms

On receipt of a completed Order, Institutions will be invoiced for the Agreement year in which the Licence is signed. Please ensure you nominate which currency in which you wish your invoiced to be issued.

In subsequent years, Institutions will be invoiced three months in advance of the anniversary date of the Agreement, on 1 May 2018 and 1 May 2019.

Single year commitments will renew automatically unless cancellation notice has been given before 1 May 2018 or 1 May 2019

There is monthly pro-rata charging for Institutions which become licensed partway through a licence year.

Chest is an Enterprise of Jisc. All Purchase orders must be made out to JISC, 4 Portwall Lane, Bristol, BS1 6NB.

All terms contained in a PO are expressly rejected and do not form part of the Licence or vary the Licence terms in any way.

Payments are due within thirty days of invoice date; recipients of late payments are entitled to interest in accordance with UK statutory provisions.

What can authorised users do?

The resources can be used for Educational Purposes:

  • education
  • teaching
  • distance learning
  • private study
  • academic research
  • administration and management of the Licensee’s educational or research operations

Exclusions

  • The resources may not be used for anything other than Educational Purposes 
  • Downloading of large amounts of material by authorised users that might be considered ‘systematic’.

Termination Clauses

Material downloaded under the agreement before its expiry may continue to be used under the same licence conditions as pertain while the agreement exists.

Institutions retain the rights to material produced during the years to which they subscribed. There will be an access fee payable in the event this option is exercised.

Opt out rights and notice period

Those choosing the single year commitment have the right to opt out of the agreement on 31 July 2015 or 31 July 2016 by giving notice of such cancellation on or before 1 May 2015 or 1 May 2016.

Personal Licences

Personal licences are not available.

Exceptions to the Terms and Conditions

There is one exception to the Licence terms – the applicable law, has been agreed with APA and states the licence is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
