It also includes the Handbook of the History of Religion, Handbook of Pedagogy and monographs on Ancient History, History of Synods, Modern History, National Socialism as well as Violence and Perpetrator History. The company publishes several journals and around 170 new titles per year. Ferdinand Schöningh is a member and shareholder of UTB, a successful German based marketing and sales organization for textbooks and academic literature.
In 1962 Wilhelm Fink, previous editor of Deutsche Verlags Anstalt DVA, founded his own publishing company. Starting with a number of philological works the program, which was acquired by Ferdinand Schöningh in 1973, expanded into Philosophy, Art and Cultural Studies. Amongst others the publisher established the field Media Studies in the intellectual debate in Germany and oversaw the editing of important collected works of Johan Huizinga, Susan Taubes and Friedrich Kittler. With the University of Konstanz, Wilhelm Fink established hermeneutics as a theory in modern intellectual history. The company publishes well-known journals and around 160 new titles per year and is also a member and shareholder of UTB.
In the 20 years since its foundation in 1998, the name of mentis Verlag stands for high-quality publications in Analytical Philosophy and Philosophy of Mind. The philosophical program focuses on the philosophy of mind and emotions, philosophy of language, logic, ethics, medical ethics and philosophy of art; the main book series are “Perspectives of Analytical Philosophy” and “ethica”. mentis combines “continental” and “transatlantic” philosophy through the international, bilingual yearbook “Logical Analysis and History of Philosophy”. In the field of literary studies, the focus is on literary theory and biopoetics. The main book series are “Explicatio” and “Poetogenesis”.
As of 1 January 2014, the international academic publishing house Editions Rodopi, which was founded in 1966 in Amsterdam, became part of Brill and continues under the imprint Brill | Rodopi. Brill | Rodopi publications cover subject areas ranging from modern history, contemporary philosophy, linguistics, theology to literature and cultural studies, theater studies, cinema, and the arts. Although the main language of publication is English, the multilingual list includes German, French, and Spanish.

On receipt of a completed Order, Institutions will be invoiced for the Agreement year in which the Licence is signed.
There is no monthly pro-rata charging for Institutions which become licensed partway through a licence year.
All Purchase orders must be made out to JISC, 4 Portwall Lane, Bristol, BS1 6NB.
All terms contained in a PO are expressly rejected and do not form part of the Licence or vary the Licence terms in any way.

Payments are due within thirty days of invoice date; recipients of late payments are entitled to interest in accordance with UK statutory provisions.
Material downloaded under the Agreement before its expiry may continue to be used under the same licence conditions as pertain while the Agreement exists. Once the Agreement has terminated then no further access to the service and to future publications will be possible unless the Agreement is renewed or extended. If the Agreement is renewed or extended then new conditions will apply. If the Agreement is not renewed then renewal is a matter between Institutions and Brill.
The Fee for early termination in accordance with clause 10.4 of the Terms and Conditions for the Standard Chest Licence for Online Resources is nil. Please note that this clause has been amended. The notice period under this agreement is ninety days, not sixty.
The Fee for retention rights upon termination in accordance with clause 10.5 of the Terms and Conditions for the Standard Chest Licence for Online Resources is nil.
Clause 2.2(m) of the Terms and Conditions for the Standard Chest Licence for Online Resources is amended to restrict Interlibrary loan to the UK and by post only, by the insertion of the words “in the UK” between the phrases “another library” and “by post”.
