This Chest Agreement offers discounted access to more than 700,000 geologic maps and spatial data, 540,000+ are georeferenced. With Geofacets, geoscientists save time, gain deeper insights and build stronger analyses and recommendations.
Agreement start: 1 August 2014
Agreement end: 31 July 2019
Licence start: Institutions may join at any time during the lifetime of the Agreement and will be bound by the licence terms and conditions to the end of their chosen subscription period.
Site licence
This Agreement is of 5 years duration. Institutions may join the agreement at any time during the agreement period.
Single year licences renew annually unless notice is received by Eduserv of cancellation before 30 April preceding the August subscription date
The three year licence may be cancelled on 31 July 2017 provided you send Eduserv notice of cancellation before 30 April 2017. If no such cancellation is received the licence shall extend for two further years.

Universities, colleges and other learning, educational and research bodies in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
Other organisations aligned with Eduserv’s charitable objectives of supporting education, research bodies and the public sector may ask to participate in the Agreement. Eduserv will liaise with the Supplier about any such requests.
The content available is capable of being integrated with ESRI software and extends the GIS portfolio offered by Chest Agreements.

Geofacets is a spatially-based platform providing access to more than 700,000 peer-reviewed maps with 540,000+ of georeferenced.
The maps are easily discoverable via geographic or keyword searches. Information about each map's original context from the source publication is included, and maps are easily integrated into GIS and presentation programs.
Covering Paleogeography, Oceanography, Geophysics, Hydrology and Hydrogeology, Meteorology/Climatology and Geography from The Geological Society of London, The Geological Society of America, Society for Sedimentary Geology and Society of Economic Geologists together with Elsevier's Earth Science content.

The Chest Order, together with the Licence Terms and Conditions, and any exceptions listed below, create a legally binding contract between your institution, organisation or company and the Licensor. Therefore please read the terms and conditions carefully and only submit a Chest Order if its terms and conditions are acceptable to your institution, organisation or company and you have the authority to make the financial commitment shown.
This Site licence is subject to the terms and conditions for the Standard Chest Licence for Online Resources. Changes to the Terms and Conditions are shown at the bottom of this page.
The Fee for early termination in accordance with clause 10.4 is nil.
The Fee for retention rights upon termination in accordance with clause 10.5 is nil.
Alumni use for Alumnis over the age of 65 is allowed under the standard licence and is included in the Fee. Otherwise, Alumni use is not allowed.

The resources can be used for Educational Purposes – defined as:
Exclusions:
Material downloaded under the Agreement before its expiry may continue to be used under the same licence conditions as pertain while the Agreement exists.
Once the Agreement has terminated then no further access to the service and to future publications will be possible unless the Agreement is renewed or extended. If the Agreement is renewed or extended then new conditions will apply. If the Agreement is not renewed then renewal is a matter between Institutions and Elsevier.

Personal licences are not available.
Term and Condition (Definition) 1.1(a)(i) is amended by the deletion of this sentence: “Visiting students and researchers are classed as “Students” whether or not they are reported or registered or enrolled by the Licensee.”
The text of Term and Condition 2.2(f) is deleted and replaced by the following wording: allow Authorized Users to extract individual maps from the Licensed Material and upload them on and integrate them into the Licensee’s internal secure geologic software analysis system for internal research purposes.
The text of Term and Condition clause 10.4 of the Standard Chest Licence for Online Resources is deleted and replaced by the following wording: Early termination is not permitted for three year or five year subscriptions except under extenuating circumstances covered by clause 10.3(b) of the Terms and Conditions.
